Accessibility
Accessibility is essential for us. You are welcomed to explore all the pathways in Sladebank Woods, but we are aware that some steeper sections of the woods are more difficult to reach. For that reason, we have created a 200 meters surfaced pathway and a compost toilet, accessible for wheelchairs and people with reduced mobility. We want to support people with a range of abilities to access this local nature space. We are aware that there are areas where improvements need to be made and we are committed to addressing these.
We were delighted to work with a range of organisations so that groups and individuals with different abilities can enjoy the woods, including the Shrubberies School, Gloucestershire Deaf Association and Active Impact.
Step by step access
PARKING – You can park on Summer Street and Summer Crescent at most times of the day. The main access to the woodland is through the Summer Crescent park. The entrance to the park is next to 8 Summer Crescent, GL5 1PP. There is pedestrian access at all times. Be mindful that Summer Crescent is on a local bus route.
PHYSICAL ACCESS – The access across the park can be difficult as it is on a grassy slope. We have supported St Roses’ students to be pushed uphill in their wheelchairs. We also offer access to an off-road mobility scooter, called a Tramper Mark 3. This can be made available by prior arrangement, please see contact details on ‘find us’ page.
